In the Scam Home Warranty business, the people are represented by two separate but equally lazy groups: The Authorization agents, who deny claims and smoke like chimneys, and the technicians who lie through their teeth to snag a few extra bucks. These are their stories CLICK CLICK I worked at "Scam Home Warranty" in the authorizations department a few years ago. I determine if a repair is or isn't covered and have 16 pages of contract to pull denials. Drain lines on refrigerators get clogged so...
I have a hot water baseboard system with a Taco SR503-4 controlling three pumps and a boiler. I am changing the thermostat on one of the heat-only zones from a battery powered 2-wire thermostat to an ecobee 3 lite. I've ran a new 18/7 wire from the thermostat to the Taco unit, so that I have plenty of leads to work with. I attached the the Taco's 24v common and that did not power the ecobee. Found this [support page](https://support.ecobee.com/hc/en-us/articles/236335908-Taco-SR503-4-Three-Z...

**Chapter One** I was going to a yard sale in my town with my girlfriend. It was a spring day and the weather was nice, so we decided to take a walk. While we were walking, we came across a sign that was stapled to a telephone poll advertising a yard sale. “Hey, a yard sale. Let’s go check it out,” my girlfriend said. I looked at the sign, and saw that the yard sale was only a few streets away, so we decided to walk over there and take a look. The yard sale was set up on the...

My damaged mind had to deal with almost dying in flight several times. One of the problems on a bird was at someone did not install any of the fasteners on all the flight controls on the left side flight control rod closet in the UH60. Now they have redundancies, I know that. But someone who fails to do their job, followed by some QA/QC type somehow fails to miss all the flight control rods. Pretty effing important. This incident is discussed in [this link to another Vultures nest story.](https:...

When Mischa told me she was ready to buy a house, I was beyond excited. We had been married for a little over a year and she managed all of our finances. She moved into my studio apartment and we agreed to cut out the extravagances in order to save for our first home – not a starter home, not a mansion, but a place where we could be proud. After doing the math, she found it would take 15 months to get to where we wanted to be financially. Just a little over a year had gone by when I got the text...
I live in Europe, so 220v electricity is standard. What I want to do is build an electric kettle using a 2-3kw water heater element, controlled by a PID with the sensor also mounted in the pot. I'd like to wire a pump to the same power supply and have a single control box for the whole thing. This is just one vessel and a cooler mash tun. I want to continue doing infusion mashing in the cooler and heat the water in the boil kettle. No interest in a real RIMS at this point. Propane is stupidly ex...
My landlord recently told me that "whenever a fuse blows we just throw a 20 in there" meaning that he replaces any blown fuse in the low-rise apartment with 20 amp glass plug fuses. I know that when we moved in there were two 15 amp glass plug fuses out of four in our receptacles in the fuse box. The wiring and fuse set-up for this place is at least 40 years old and he doesn't seem to do maintenance unless he's forced to. I'm really nervous about this over fusing. What I've been reading online...
I looked on this forum and google but cannot find a reliable answer. So recently my water heater quit. I have a lot of respect for electricity and a very reasonable fear of it. This caused me to work "backwards" to find the problem. First I struggled to drain the tank. Replaced the crappy boiler drain with a 3/4" ball valve. Flushed it out. I then replaced the elements. Top looked ok but bottom was rusted. The top thermostat was also bad so I figured I'd replace it and the lower to have all n...
I have a 2005 325i (E46) with the M54 engine. The bleeding procedure is surprisingly simple, and can be found [here](https://www.pelicanparts.com/BMW/techarticles/BMW-3-Series-E46/32-WATER-Flushing_Your_Coolant/32-WATER-Flushing_Your_Coolant.htm) and in a ton of forum/Reddit posts. I've done it a few times, and luckily have had no issues. I guess my question is: Why does this work? How can air be pushed out of the system when the engine is off and the water pump isn't spinning? I understand th...
I always hated this part. The pain is excruciating, there is a peaceful numbness that paralyzes you for the first 15 seconds. Then comes the electric agony, feels like a thousand yellow-hot nails being slowly pushed into every square centimetre of your body. It's the feeling that could match the most grievous methods of torture. First timers always think something went wrong and that they were dying when in fact, they were already dead and being brought back to life. It's the billions and billio...

TLDR: 28 year old building, Hot-water heater Fuse plug has scorching on one side of a 2-30 AMP fuse plug. Is this normal? Odd fuse box tripping due many outlets on a single circuit. Is this normal? I've been city vandwelling since July in a Chevy Express Cargo Van. Kept my car for everyday driving, basically use my van to sleep in, although I'm going to start transitioning it into more of a "tiny house." I realize I could Google around, which I've done to nice returns in regard to insulating, bed set-up etc., but the electricity part seems like a foreign language to me. If someone could explain it to me like you'd explain it to a grade-schooler, the simpler the better. Basically, I wan...
*Continuing* I wrap the six road flares, now spray-painted brick-red and stickered with the appropriate manufacturer's labels, with black electrician’s tape into a hexagonal cross-section, closest-fit bundle. An Arduino board that I programmed the other night that runs the wee little speaker and set of blinking LEDs I had mounted on the box. From the box sprout a pair of tightly c...
